We're nearing the end of Summer and Fall is surely (don't call us Shirley) on the way (stay tuned for all the Fall things from us). But before we get to the greatest season of them all, we're showcasing what songs we've been gushing over for the last month of Summer.
American Eulogy (Mass Hysteria) - Green Day: One of the most powerful tracks from Green Day's hit LP 21st Century Breakdown (2009), "American Eulogy" exclaims protests of social and political issues in the American society and how ignoring consequences of certain situations can be deteriorating if it's too late. The track features raging guitars and compelling vocals, filled with substantial lyrics that highlight important substance in Green Day songs.
Kick In The Teeth - Hippo Campus: The calming acoustics and soft vocals of Hippo Campus echo in "Kick In The Teeth," hailing from their 2023 album Wasteland. The simple melodies and unique sound grasp listeners and secure the indie pop sound for today's standards.
44ever - Logic: Originating from the most recent release by Logic Ultra 85, "44ever" marks the third entry in the artist's "44" song series, featuring unforgettable melodies that will linger in your mind even in your sleep.
Distracted - Honey Revenge: My favorite song from Honey Revenge presents spunky vibes from the vibrant band and features memorable lyrics, along with strong vocals from Devin Papadol.
Famous Last Words - My Chemical Romance: Coming from the emo vibes and compelling vocals of Gerard Way, "Famous Last Words" is a sweet hymn to some, and a life-saving song to others. With motivational lyrics - "I am not afraid to keep on living/I am not afraid to walk this world alone/Honey if you stay you'll be forgiven/Nothing you can say can stop me going home" - signify a generation.
Been There Before - Hanson: Soft piano keys and powerhouse vocals fill the journey of "Been There Before" from Hanson's 2007 album The Walk. The song entails the joy of supporting and helping others and is known to be one of the band's most uplifting songs.
Freewill - Rush: Ever since I was a teenager and listened to Rush "on my own" for the first time, I always knew most of their songs had significant meanings in them. But as I've grown to the ripe old age of 28, I've started diving deeper into certain songs and question what the lyrics truly mean. "Freewill" is a song that resonates with listeners, making them comprehend its message while also pondering how the band managed to grasp what the audience needed to hear.
Nobody Knows - The Driver Era: Originally known as R5, Ross and Rocky Lynch brought The Driver Era to life in 2019 with their debut album X. The lively tunes by TDE in "Nobody Knows" bring positive energy and ensure the party never stops.
Too Much Stereo - The Urge: The beloved ska group The Urge from St. Louis, fronted by Steve Ewing, remains dedicated to spreading their high-energy performances to loyal fans all over the surrounding area. "Too Much Stereo" offers energetic and lively tunes with a chorus that is so infectious, it will stay with you for a long time.
